The Rotary Club of Washington, DC is one of the premier charitable organizations in the United States. This year will be the third year the club has been the guest of a foreign embassy in Washington- to fund the club's program of International Service.

ON April 29, 2006 the French Embassy will be the location of a tasting of French and American wines, and some other fine wines from around the world. The club currently sponsors over 30 International projects in 27 countries. In the last three years the club has provided over $330,000 in fuding to these programs helping children, the disabled, removal of land mines, food and medicines for the needy, aid to burn victims, emergency surgery for children, clean water, bed nets to stop the spread of malaria to name just a few.

Some of our special guests who will be present are owner Mark Neal and winemaker Gove Celio of Neal Family Vinyards. www.nealvineyards.com Neal Vineyards has during its relatively short existence been a leader in the Napa Valley winemaking regularly appearing as a highly rated wine by Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. Also, pouring and discussing his wines, will be Michael Browne of Kosta-Browne. www.kostabrowne.com Kosta- Browne pinots have reached the pinacle of fine wines by being listed in the top 100 wines of 2005, by Wine Spectator. This will be a rare opportunity to meet and talk to two of California's new generation of exceptional winemakers.

In honor of the Presidency of Thomas Jefferson, and his close ties to France and wine, the owners of Jefferson Winery are also presenting some of their award winning wines for tasting. Jefferson Winery is one of the largest growers in the east.

Those looking for wine auction items will have an opportunity to bid on several lots of 98 Leoville de las Cases- described by Robert Parker as a wonderful representation of the wines of Medoc, or your can bid on some 2000 wines from Gigondas which has been described by many as the harvest of the century. Many other fine wines, and dinners at the best restaurants in DC will be auctioned to benefit Rotary.
